A group project in which we were set to create our own land with initial themes to explore including identity, environment and culture.
After meeting my group a few times and having decided on going down a utopian, parallel universe-esque route we started looking at inventions and what changes would have occurred if things had been created or thought upon differently by the major inventors and innovators of our time.
To simplify this idea and to make it appeal to our visual and creative sides, we decided to take the invention of the wheel which has an obvious visual attached to it - and create a world where people have almost become obsessed with this invention. Where absolutely everything is circular, from objects, fashion, architecture, design, type, lifestyle circles, food, flag design, transport, the country's structure.....this gave us a lot to work with.
It enabled us to work democratically as a group, as we all knew one design visual had to be achieved (circular) but everyone could work on something that they were particularly interested in.
